With the recent Google Pacman game (estimated 5 million lost hours of work), and the streaming of news and sport on the web (with the World Cup in full swing), it could seem that the reverse is true.
In reality, the important factor for any business is to draft a sensible Internet use policy, and enshrine this in their standard HR procedures. Where there is a more endemic problem, an appropriate filtering device such as a NetPilot will ensure that some sites can be blocked during working hours, whilst those relevant to an employee's work can still be accessed. It does take away the temptation to check up on those Facebook friends during the day ...
